A growing company is seeking a Controls Supervisor to join their Weekend Shift team to support the Controls Manager in leading a team of control technicians who maintain and optimize material handling automation systems in our distribution centers. The schedule for this role is Fri-Sun from 6a-630p. This role encompasses troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and project-based initiatives, all while guiding and mentoring team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive technical expertise, particularly in PLC hardware and logic, and expert knowledge in supporting custom automation systems.

responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of controls technicians supporting material handling automation systems in distribution centers.

  • Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on automation systems.

  • Manage project-based efforts and guide team members through these tasks.

  • Utilize technical knowledge of PLC hardware and logic.

  • Support multiple custom automation systems, focusing on software applications, PLC communication, I/O field device support, host communication, database structure, and system redundancy.

  • Review business brand plans concerning distribution and fulfillment center requirements, asset replacement, and long-term growth strategies.

  • Lead efforts related to strategic fulfillment use, automation/technology lifecycle, and capital expenditure plans.

  • Design, procure, and implement material handling and process automation equipment, including spare parts.

  • Support project concept development and implementation.

  • Track and report on project status, progress, issues, scheduling, and finances.

  • Maintain coordination and communication with building engineering, fulfillment operations, maintenance, IT, and other relevant departments.

  • Manage relationships and performance of external resources, including suppliers, consultants, and contractors.

  • Oversee daily activities of the Controls team, including timecards, PTO, and absences.

  • Manage team performance by defining personal objectives and evaluating individual performance.
