MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Scientist - Imaging Physics in Houston, Texas

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the position is to develop, implement and validate novel machine learning algorithms to analyze imaging data for cancer research and applications. The candidate is expected to have a track record in machine learning, data based management, mathematical models and data analysis. The candidate will be expected to work in a highly interdisciplinary research environment with scientists and clinicians throughout MDACC and from partner institutions. The successful candidate should have a good understanding in data science and software programming.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Research Develop artificial intelligence or machine learning/deep learning models from radiology and pathology slides. Build computational pipeline for features selection with evolutionary and swarm intelligence using matlab or python. Assists principal investigator with scientific research projects. Supervises the design, development or adaptation equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained, evaluates research data and develops and revises techniques or approaches to work problems. Plans training and research work activity for assigned laboratory and research personnel.

Scientific Publications and Grant Writing

Compiles, writes and submits project results to superiors. Serves as a first or second author on several journal publications or publication draft within research project span.

Technical Expertise

Plans, develops and adapts machine learning used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. Plans and supervises the training of technicians and other laboratory personnel. Visualize, analyze, and present the results in our group meeting and seminar.

Other duties as assigned

Required education: Masters degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Required experience: Four years of experimental or scientific work. With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.

Preferred experience: Research in machine learning and data science.
