Here’s the Gist:

As a Research Scientist, you will utilize your leadership and scientific expertise to initiate and plan R&D projects, and deliver SiC laser processes and related metrology, as well as understand and manage SiC boule separation and surface processing development projects. You will work with many stakeholders in R&D, EHS, IT, and Production teams to pilot and scale-up a robust manufacturing process. You will need theoretical physics and hands-on involvement and a proven record of project management.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Utilize a deep knowledge of materials science to create high functioning wafer fabrication processes
  • Continually achieve independent thinking, hypothesis generation, and testing
  • Work constructively with a team of manufacturing personnel, scientists, engineers, and technicians
  • Utilize scripting and statistical analysis to extract and analyze large data sets
  • Embrace a "hands-on" approach to working with complex equipment

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Qualifications):

  • PhD in Applied Materials, Physical Science, Chemistry, or Engineering
  • Background in surface processing of semiconductor materials or ceramics via optical methods
  • Experience with at least one additional method using chemical, mechanical, or electrical machining
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills demonstrated in project ownership
  • This position requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations.

Skills that will help you get up to speed faster (but not required):

  • Knowledge of SiC and related materials
  • Skilled in python to quickly manipulate large data sets
  • Management experience in addition to showing hands-on and theoretical contributions
